New Breweries Coming to Ballard

Nothing makes us happier over here at ECB&B than being able to announce the coming of a new burger joint or brewery, except for when we get to let you know about two!

In the next few months (late winter/early spring) two new breweries will be opening their doors in the Ballard area. Both will be located on Leary Way, on opposite sides of 15th Ave and the Ballard bridge.

Peddler Brewing Company (1514 NW Leary Way) is going to be opening its doors in the vicinity of current Seattle favorites such as Hilliard’s, Reuben’s, and NW Peaks. Peddler Brewing, as the name suggests, is going to be a fast hit with biking enthusiasts in Seattle. They plan to have a bicycle themed aesthetic as well as a bike “work station” replete with an array of tools to tune up while you enjoy a brew. Peddler Brewing Company is currently on the fundraising platform “Kickstarter” as they put the finishing touches on their brewery. There are a number of opportunities available to donate/pledge money to aid them in completing their project, and most of the pledges come with some sweet swag. Help them get their doors open soon by visiting their Kickstarter page hereand let’s get out there to enjoy that beer!

Next up we have Bad Jimmy’s Brewery where they “take pride in ensuring a full malted, high hopped pint of liquid joy.” Bad Jimmy’s is going to be located at 4358B Leary Way, near another local favorite Hale’s Ales, and just a short walk away from Outlader. Not to mention that it’s just a stones throw away from one of our favorite watering holes The Leary Traveler. Bad Jimmy’s intends to enter the market with a bang, as their Beer List is already up on their website with a number of particularly enticing products. I for one cannot wait to try their “Hoptrick IPA” described as “a triple hopped high alcohol pint of love.”

We cannot wait for these places to open their doors later this year, and we’re sure you can’t either. Keep checking their sites (as well as Facebook pages) and back here at EBC&C to stay up to date on what is going on with these soon-to-be great additions to the Seattle brew market.

Both Peddler Brewing Company and Bad Jimmy’s Brewery have now been added to our list of Brew Sites in and around the Seattle area. Stop by to stay up to date and to check out other local offerings in the meantime.

  1. Hey guys, just a heads up that there will actually be 3 new breweries in Ballard. My partners and I will be opening Populuxe Brewing ( on 8th and 49th this month. Our first brew day will be in the next week or so, just as soon as our final inspections are complete. We’ve been building out for about 6 months now, and will be serving up traditional beer styles with a Northwest twist. Our place is small, just 1.5bbl brewhouse, but we’ll have a tasting room and outdoor seating in the summer. Pints, growlers and kegs to go will be available and we’ll shop around a few small kegs to local bars when we have the capacity. Anyway, thanks for covering the beer scene in Ballard – it’s definitely going to get interesting in 2013!
