Bite of Seattle Adds Brews from Seattle and Elsewhere Around Washington

This year The Bite of Seattle, which starts today and runs through the weekend, will be adding a Craft Beer and Hard Cider Tasting. This is a component that I think has been sorely lacking in the past with regards to this event. The Bite’s Craft Beer and Hard Cider Tasting will be offering over 70 different options for you to enjoy. While it is exciting that they’re including a craft beer and cider component this year, Washington and specifically Seattle, are woefully underrepresented. There are going to be 35+ different breweries and cider producers at the tasting event. However, only 9 of them will be from Washington state and only 2 of them actually from Seattle. For a city with a robust craft beer scene it’s a bit perplexing, to say the least, as to why there is such a lack of representation. But at the very least it’s a start, and we can use this as a launching point to better representation for the future.

The Bite of Seattle starts today and runs through the weekend. Entrance to the Craft Beer and Hard Cider Tasting costs $20 dollars. You will receive a 5.5 oz. commemorative tasting glass (while supplies last) as well as 5 tokens. Additional tokens may also be purchased for $2 apiece. The event takes place in the Fisher Pavillion at the Seattle Center. Tasting hours are Friday 3–9 pm, Saturday 11 – 9 pm and Sunday 11 – 8 pm.
