Meet Rob Brunsman from the newly distributed Hop Valley Brewing Company from Eugene, OR. Hop Valley opened their doors on Friday, February 13th, 2009 in Springfield, Oregon. Their brewery is placed on the same grounds that used to be the hot-bed for hop production before prohibition, and is a marker to those that drink their beers, that they are proud to still be using the same local hops that once supplied the industry. Since opening they have accomplished a lot, including increasing their overall production from 1,000 barrels/year to 12,000 barrels with their current setup in Eugene, Oregon and have also won a couple World Beer Cup medals.
A tasting of the 5 beers below will be available for $4:
1. Sir Orange A Lot Pale Ale – 5.5% ABV
Bitter and sweet orange peel are added to this cloudy summer pale for a refreshing finish. Nugget hops are also featured to provide this beer with an orange blossom-like aroma.
2. V.I.P (Vanilla Infused Porter) – 5.9% ABV
Vanilla beans are added to the conditioning tank in this robust porter, giving the bittersweet chocolate notes a well rounded finish.
3. Citrus Mistress IPA – 6.5% ABV
This seasonal IPA features 4 different hops with multiple flavors and aromas complemented with the addition of grapefruit peel. It creates a bouquet of citrus, peach and tropical fruits with enough Munich malt to produce a classic burnt orange color.
4. Macho Libre Imperial IPA – 8.7% ABV
This imperial IPA embodies the spirit of the Northwest combined with intense citrus and tropical aromas to break the grasp of winter with every sip.
5. Alpha Centauri Imperial IPA – 9.0% ABV
Big flavor, intense pine and citrus aroma. We keep the malt profile clean in this Imperial IPA to let the love lights shine on the fine Northwest hops.
