Sunday (October 4th, 4-8PM), is the 3rd annual Piketoberfest, a harvest celebration filled with fantastic beer!
Tickets (available here): $40 tickets include unlimited food tastes, 10 drink tokens, Piketoberfest mug, music & discounted parking.
Celebrate the harvest season at PIKETOBERFEST — a Beer, Charcuterie and Harvest Festival. This annual food and drink tasting event benefits the Pike Place Market Foundation. Featuring local meats, sauerkrauts, cheeses and more, paired with craft beers, wines and spirits. Compare our regional food and drinks to their classic German counterparts and toast Piketoberfest with live music in Pike Brewing’s Microbrewery Museum and Brewery. PIKETOBERFEST is a 21+ event.
PIKETOBERFEST features locally brewed German and other styles of beer from Pike Brewing, Reuben’s Brews, Triplehorn Brewing, Stoup, Sumerian Brewing Co., Twin Rivers Brewing and Silver City. Enjoy them alongside German craft biers selected by Merchant Du Vin, NBG Imports and Click Distributing. Tieton Cider will bring a taste of the harvest with their ciders.
Guests will be able to compare local craft spirits from Westland, Copperworks and Sidetrack distilleries with German liqueurs like Kammer Obstler, Schönauer Apfel, Echte Kroatzbeere Blackberry, Schladerer Williams-Birne, Helbing Kümmel, and Stroh Jagertee. Other German schnapps include Verpoorten Advocaat, Der Lachs Original Danzinger Goldwasser, and Underberg Bitters. Though beer comes to mind at Oktoberfest, Germany celebrates the harvest season with some of the world’s greatest wines. PIKETOBERFEST proudly presents an opportunity to compare the classic wines of Germany with fantastic local wines of similar style.
Flavorful bites will be served by Uli’s Sausage, Brave Horse Tavern, Bavarian Meats, Willapa Hills Cheese, Britt’s Pickles, Field Roast, Honest Biscuits, Knutzen Farms, Oly Kraut, Macrina Bakery, Grand Central Bakery and The Pike Pub.
There will be an abundance of extraordinary foods to sample, but it is important to remember that not all people are so fortunate to be able to enjoy this bounty of the season! For this reason, we team up with The Pike Place Market Foundation to make PIKETOBERFEST an annual benefit for their medical services, low income housing, child care and other social services to people in need. The Pike Place Market neighborhood is rated as one of the country’s most livable and diverse, to a large part because of the work of The Market Foundation.
Munich’s famed Oktoberfest is the “mother of all festivals” and is the model for PIKETOBERFEST. It is an annual event that just last year brought in more than six million guests from all over the world. Originally a royal wedding party, Oktoberfest has become a grand county fair with rides, exhibits, and of course beer pavilions (tents) at its heart. Tourists too often have the idea that the Oktoberfest experience is all about over consuming beer while dancing on the table to the beat of an “oompah” band, but there is another, gentler Oktoberfest that most people, even if they live in Munich don’t know about. Each year, the mayor, public officials, media stars, brewers, pavilion owners, and a few lucky guests from out of town, are invited to private rooms in one of the 14 giant tents where they dine like the royalty the festival was originally created for. Many dress in medieval costumes and compete in a crossbow shoot. Everyone celebrates with the best quality local beer, wine, schnapps and food reflective of the harvest season.
