Bourbon County – Release Guide

BCBS 2015It’s that time of year, Black Friday is right around the corner (and so are the lines). But if you’re like us and you have your priorities in order then you’re not waiting in line for 90% off some toaster or 75% off some blender. You leave that for the suckers because you know what Black Friday is really all about: B-E-E-R!

Every year on Black Friday comes one of the most sought after beers nationwide: Goose Island’s Bourbon County Brand Stout. It’s the one time a year that even the most stalwart craft-beer supporters (read: anti-any affiliation with a macrobrewery) give a pass to those “evil” macro-brewers and flock (pun intended) to our favorite bottle shops to acquire some sweet bourbon-barrel-aged goodness.

With each passing year Goose Island has ramped up production (thanks to AB InBev’s resources – guess they’re not all bad), making it slightly easier to acquire. This year is no different, and they’ve also redesigned the bottle format. No longer are you hoping just for one 12oz. bottle, this year you’re getting 500ml! And to top it off, we in Seattle are finally going to see distribution of some of the rarer BCBS varities.

Alright, so now to why you came here, you want to know how/where to get some. Whether you just want to drink it or if you want to also get your hands on a few bottles, we’ve got you covered.

First off we’ve got the early tastings: This is ideal for those of you who don’t necessarily care about getting bottles but do care about getting to try some.

Pint Defiance – 11/27 @10am – As an alternative to the usual after-Thanksgiving shopping craze, Pint Defiance wants to keep the “thanks” and the “giving” going with our Black Friday beers, starting with the 2015 release of Goose Island Bourbon County Brand Stout. This rare and highly sought-after Barrel Aged Imperial Stout only comes around once a year, so bottles are limited. But as a thanks to our loyal customers, we’re also tapping a keg of 2015 Bourbon County to share in the excitement of this release. You also have an opportunity to give back, as we will be collecting non-perishable food items for the Emergency Food Network. The first 40 or so donors will even take home some awesome beer schwag thanks to our friends at Goose Island.

Super Deli Mart – 11/27 – Should have all varieties of bottles and BCBS and Bourbon County Barleywine on draft as long as they opt not to cellar the kegs.

Malt and Vine – 11/27 – Has a Goose Island draft tasting 5:30-7:30 Friday. Should have BCS, BCS Barleywine, BCS Coffee, BCS Rye and Lolita on tap, unless they decide to cellar one of them.
